enquiries regarding the interpretation of these criteria need to be
directed to the Executive Secretary In all cases of qualification, the burden of proof lies totally with the applying club and the player. The management reserve the right to refuse or cancel any registration, should a player fail to produce for examination, within 7 days of being given notice, the necessary documentation, when demanded, by the registration secretary. This examination, by any nominated management member, shall include any papers from the Home Office (Immigration & Nationality Directorate), or an EU Country equivalent, a Birth Certificate, a Passport, a National Insurance Card, and / or any other qualification detail. Player (No registration restriction)
To qualify to play as an EU player, the person must meet 1 of the following 4 criteria: 1)
Hold a Birth Certificate stating that his place of birth is within the
EU. 3) Be aged 15 years or under and have been permanently resident as a citizen in the EU for the preceding year. 4)
Have been permanently
resident as a citizen of the EU for at least the last 2 consecutive
years, and hold documentary proof from the EU government concerned that
he may remain in the EU without any time restriction for a minimum
of 3 consecutive years calculated from his entry date into the EU Note B: A person holding only an EU/UK 'Subject' passport (including a British Subject, British Dependant, British Overseas Citizen, British National Overseas Citizen, and British Protected Person, or an EU country equivalent passport), as opposed to a full EU / UK 'Citizen' passport, does not qualify him of right as an EU player, under any circumstances, in respect of 1), 2), or 3) above Non EU Player (With registration restriction) To qualify as a non-EU player, the person must meet 1 of the following 3 criteria: 1) PROFESSIONAL PLAYER - Possessing a Work Permit as a person wishing to enter the UK. He must obtain this document issued by Work Permits (UK), on behalf of the Home Office. Permits, which are non transferable, are issued to the applying club and are valid for 6 months, and relate to specific employment. This
does not guarantee the issue of a Visa. Former Test Match players, who do not meet the criteria above, must have played 5 Test Matches in the previous 10 years. For a player to qualify for a position at a club that includes an element of coaching in his job description, he must hold at least a Level 2 ECB coaching qualification. The minimum remuneration is set annually (currently £ 210 per week plus accommodation), but any other payments, i.e. air fares, are discretionary in addition to the remuneration figure. The
contract with any player must include; 2) WORKING HOLIDAYMAKER - Be classified as a Working Holidaymaker and obtain a permit, which is granted to citizens of the commonwealth, who are between the ages of 18 and 27. Permits are granted for 2 years, and allow casual work, but specifically excludes employment as a cricketer. It is expected that a person would take a holiday break at some stage during his visit, and also to return to his country of origin to take up his normal occupation after the 2 years. 3) LESS THAN 2 YEAR EU RESIDENT - Be a person who has been resident in the EU for less than 2 years and is not qualified to play as an EU player, and does not meet either of the requirements in 1 and 2 above. This person may play as a non-EU player if he is resident in the EU, and providing that any remuneration he receives from playing cricket is not the main source of his income |
