Huddersfield win by 7 wickets

Comfortable victory against East Yorkshire

The strong Huddersfield Joe Lumb team completed their group fixtures with a comfortable 7 wicket victory over East Yorkshire.
Raven Hill lost the toss for the first time this season, and East Yorkshire batted.
Sam Scott and Jonny Butterfield opened the bowling, with Scott getting a wicket in his second over, but they did not cause the batsmen much problem, and a second wicket stand of 46 appeared to put East Yorkshire in a good position at 61 for 1.

As has happened before this season, the introduction of the spinners changed the game, with Greg Wadsworth (3 for 39), and Ben Raven Hill (3 for 37) having an immediate effect on the game, with Wadsworth bowling a 17 over spell, giving the ball more air than normal and at times was unplayable.
Greg has been an important part of the Joe Lumb side for 2 years now, and this performance was indicative of his positive and buoyant attitude to the game, and he was well supported by a very good spell from Nicky Sharpe, who bowled an excellent 6 overs of line and length.

From 61 for 1, East Yorkshire nose-dived to 108 for 9, and only a last wicket stand of 31 enabled them to post a score of 139.

This was never going to be enough for the strong batting of Huddersfield, and they had no problems in reaching their target in the 28th over, with Greg Buckley (54) and Tom Kemp (27) seeing Huddersfield to victory with an unbeaten stand of 80.

This is the end of the group matches for Huddersfield, having played 7, winning 6, the only defeat being to Heavy Woollen in the last over of the game, but it is not the end of the games, as they finish in the top two in their group with the position of first or second being decided next Sunday when Heavy Woollen play their last game against North Yorkshire.

The winners of the groups play for the Joe Lumb Cup and the runners up play for the Jack Lee Trophy.
Barnsley have won the other group, and Aire-Wharfedale have finished second.
